My husband had to attend his company’s Christmas party, and before he left, I decided to play a harmless joke. Laughing, I wrote across his chest, “THIS IS MY HUSBAND; IF YOU TOUCH HIM, YOU’LL PAY FOR IT.” He rolled his eyes, laughed, and promised to be home before midnight.
Hours passed, and midnight came and went. He finally returned early the next morning, slightly intoxicated and clearly exhausted from the celebration. After helping him upstairs and getting him ready for bed, I noticed something unusual while taking off his shirt.
Written across his back, in handwriting that definitely wasn’t mine, was a message: “KEEP HIM. WE TRIED TO GIVE HIM BACK ALL NIGHT.” For a moment, I stood there completely stunned, unsure whether to laugh or panic.
The next day, my husband barely remembered anything from the party. Curious, I contacted one of his coworkers, who immediately burst out laughing. It turned out that after a few drinks, my husband had become the unofficial entertainer of the evening, attempting karaoke, organizing dance contests, and repeatedly insisting that everyone join him on the dance floor.
According to his coworkers, by the end of the night, everyone was exhausted from trying to keep up with him. One of his colleagues had noticed my original message and decided to add a playful reply before he left. What initially looked like a shocking discovery turned into one of our favorite family stories, retold every Christmas without fail.
