The Cruise I Never Signed Up For

I’ve never entered a contest in my life, so when a radio station called and told me I had won a free luxury cruise, I laughed and hung up. But when they called again, gave me the exact details, and even sent paperwork, I thought, why not? Maybe I really was lucky for once.

When I stepped aboard, it felt surreal. Crew members greeted me by name, ushered me to a private suite, and treated me like I was royalty. Champagne, flowers, and even a personal butler were waiting for me. At first, I thought this was just VIP treatment for “contest winners.” But the way people kept glancing at me — whispering behind my back — unsettled me.

On the second night, I finally asked a steward why everyone seemed to know who I was. His smile froze, and he leaned in close. “Because, ma’am… everyone here believes you’re not a contest winner. They think you’re the ship owner’s daughter.”

My stomach dropped. I had no idea who the owner was, let alone why I was being mistaken for family. But things only got stranger. My key card gave me access to restricted areas. My meals were prepared exactly to my unknown preferences. And one night, when I walked into the casino, the entire room went silent — then applauded.

That’s when I realized… this wasn’t a simple prize. It was a setup, a case of mistaken identity that I had walked right into. And out in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by strangers who thought they knew me, I wasn’t sure if I was truly a guest… or something much more dangerous.
